Maldivian Mind Concept today!

MALDIVIAN MIND CONCEPT TODAY! DON’T BLOW IT UP TOMORROW! WE HAVE A LIFE TO LIVE! DO NOT LOOSE YOUR SOUL!!!

A news report that was published last night made me rethink about cinema industry which I being literally “cursing” my entire life.

The notion that “nudity/vulgar/violence in movies and songs are a part/sign of CIVILIZED societies” have bothered me for past 20 years.

Anyone of my age will remember our elders saying it’s wrong to watch “English” movies, for obvious reasons. However things changed a lot faster – technology developed faster then individual evolution. What was considered not right yesterday is cool today, what we thought as a “big deal” is already no deal! Before we realize how Hollywood – mainstream media started and how the thirst for money and fame broke all moral codes they use to follow, we are already able to watch any movie or song from anywhere just by a click!

What which bothered me most was the idea that freedom to show vulgar and nude scenes were a sign of civilized societies!? We may not agree with it in public but we all felt the same way within, It almost felt like “development” doesn’t come without letting nudity, homosexuality and many other such things previously considered immoral a chance in our society. Well, it’s is not fully wrong given the fact that a culture which has no culture is being imported in to our society with no “customs” to “check” it, simply because that’s what everyone else does. “It’s an art; it’s cool; it’s modern; it’s freedom” – buzz words like this kept hurting the feelings of few people who knew what culture really is, what moral values are, and how what we watch & listen effect our own behaviors. I was more then concerned about how my kids would be – how our next generation would be!

Sadly there never seemed to be a way out of this, not just for our little nation of Maldives. Nations all over the world “went out” to find the greatness of the mighty empire, and we blindly believed that losing a “little bit” of moral values were a price we had to pay and many of us did so, but was it worth it? Did we just lose only a bit?

MALDIVIAN MIND CONCEPT TODAY! DON’T BLOW IT UP TOMORROW! WE HAVE A LIFE TO LIVE! DO NOT LOOSE YOUR SOUL!!!

We lost more then we gained, it’s true! We live in a time where everyone knows Niki Minaj, but have no idea who YouYou Tu is ( on 2015 she received Nobel prize in medicine for finding cure to malaria which has saved millions of lives), a society where people are more concerned about the look and dress of a singer then her songs & lyrics, where you get more likes on FB and Instagram for sharing a “hot” picture thn sharing a good result in academics. A world where the award of most courageous women of the year goes to a man who had a sex-change for fame. We tune to watch The Oscar awards live but don’t even know where Nobel prize awards are held. We know daily life updates of our “idol” celebrities but are unaware of scientific breakthroughs made on daily basis. You know the name of every famous singer, can sing most of their songs but how many names/attributions of Allah do You know? How many verses of Quran do You know by heart? Did The humble TV at home passed a “cancer” on to us? Is TV really the one-eyed-Dajal? It really seems like we have gone a bit too far and it is indeed dangerously one sided, and up until recently it always felt like that this was a price we had to pay in order to be like “those” developed nations! We had no other example to give, no one to look up on, everyone was the same. concerned were many; of what the world has for our future generation!

BUT as always, things seems to be changing again! this time hopefully a change for good. After-all our instincts don’t agree that we should let go of our morals, those which make us humans, in order to bring development to our nation. This brings me to the news I mentioned in the beginning. The once, taken granted, notion has being challenged by a rising power! Call it The Dragon or the Middle Kingdom, whatever name you call Her, she is already under everyone’s attention – She is the second biggest economy in the world with the fastest growing/developing economy.
